AFTER SCHOOL FUN

After School Fun is a program for K - 5th Grade students in the Anderson community.  We partner with Anderson Community Schools (ACSC) for transportation.  The students on our neighborhood  bus routes are those who are eligible to attend the program:

Tenth Street Elementary: 67

Eastside Elementary: 320

Killbuck Kindergarten: 5

If your child does not ride one of these buses but is interested in attending the program, please contact our Director to inquire about space in the program or on the bus.

Dates:

September 14 – December 9, 2016 and January 17 – April 28, 2017.  We are open every afternoon until 6 pm.  We follow the calendars of both Anderson Community Schools and Anderson University since we hire university students to help staff our program.

Homework:

We help each student with homework everyday and provide tutoring as needed.  We make sure that the students homework is done and done correctly at the end of each day.  We also help students study for weekly spelling tests and other tests.

Other Activities:

When the students get off the bus, we provide a healthy snack.  We have fun clubs such as gardening, cooking, science, fitness, art, and more that we facilitate each week!  We also have a mentoring program with approved positive adult volunteers that invest their time in students’ lives each week.  On Fridays, we will sometimes go swimming at Anderson University, have a outdoor field day, or other fun activities!  We keep the children engaged and active throughout the afternoons.

Cost:

This is a free program but we welcome donations from families.

Staff:

Kristin Stayer is the Executive Director of the Park Place Community Center and provides the leadership for ASF and this will be her 13th year.  We hire Anderson University students to work on a daily basis.  We have volunteers that come weekly.  All staff and volunteers are trained and have background checks.

Please feel free to email or call Kristin at: kstayer@ppchog.org or 765-374-4662 with any questions.
