In 1906 when the Gospel Trumpet Company came to Anderson, 170 workers established what would become Park Place Church of God. The congregation met in rented facilities or the Trumpet Workers' Home until 1917 when they built a sanctuary for 600 people on the corner of Eighth and Union Avenue (now College Drive). In 1960, Park Place Church of God moved into its present facilities at 501 College Drive.

Under excellent leadership, Park Place was first in the Church of God to use Sunday bulletins, to develop a handbell choir, to become a "Covenant Church" in Anderson in support of Habitat for Humanity, and to reach the two-million-dollar mark for giving to world missions. Serving as senior ministers during these ninety-plus years:

Mabel Hale
Joseph T. Wilson
Herbert A. Sherwood
Eugene A. Reardon
Albert F. Gray
W. Dale Oldham
Hillery C. Rice
Keith Huttenlocker
Donald D. Johnson
Edward L. Nelson
David Markle

David L. Coolidge was Minister of Music between 1959 and 1999, during the ministry of five senior pastors.

While meeting congregational needs, this Church of God has also pioneered broader approaches to Christian ministry. In 1956 the Park Place weekday nursery school began. In 1968 the church helped to establish Contact/Help telephone ministry and Big Brothers. The first church-sponsored Retirees' Fellowship began meeting at Park Place Church of God in 1974. That same year a counseling center began, now sponsored by Anderson area churches. Park Place helped to sponsor new churches: East Side Church of God (Anderson), Fishers and Carmel, Indiana, as well as Mexico City.

Park Place Church of God continues to be a loving, caring people who reach up to God and out to each other around the world
