The Kingdom Experiment
Living Intentionally
Recently I’ve been reading a book that has a subtitle that reads “Reimagining the way you relate to God.” I’ve been thinking a good bit about my life and the focus of my thoughts, words, and actions. It’s so easy for me to get caught up in living life “for God”, I miss the fact that what God really wants is for me to live life “with God.” I have to say that I’m overtaken again and again at the mystery of it all. How do we comprehend the truth that God, the creator and sustainer of all, wants to be in relationship with us. I mean we weren’t created because God needed to be loved, but out of the overflow of perfect love that was already present between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s like Jesus prayed in John 17:20-26, “That they may be one just as you are in me and I am in you.”
This summer we are undertaking an experiment that will draw us in to relationship with God... a challenge, the core of which will be rooted in the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10). We’re going to do an intentional hands-on study throughout the summer. We will dive into scripture and provide safe space for our students to grow together. Each week we’ll take a specific Beatitude study it, discuss it, and then throughout the week students will be given a challenge that will help them wrestle with the kingdom principle focus.
Now don’t get me wrong, there will be plenty of crazy games, hot and wet summer get-togethers, some long trips, and even chances to serve together. Altogether it’s looking like another great summer. On the back of this sheet you’ll find the summer calendar for Fusion Youth. I really hope you’ll be a part!
